Celeste M. Wagner came to Barberton City Schools in 2004. Prior to her 2014 appointment as Director of Bands at Barberton High School, Mrs. Wagner served as Director of Bands at Barberton Middle School (2011-2014), Director of Bands at Highland Middle School (2006-2011), and Assistant Director of Bands at Barberton High School (2004-2006). Prior to teaching in Barberton, Celeste taught in Fairfield, OH for two years.
Mrs. Wagner holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music, where she graduated Magna cum Laude (2002). While at CCM, Mrs. Wagner studied piano with Mr. Richard Morris and performed in the Symphony Band on trumpet, under the direction for Dr. Terrance Milligan. In 2006, Celeste earned her Master of Education in Educational Administration from Kent State University.
Celeste is an active member of the Ohio Music Education Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the American School Band Directors Association. Her contributions to the profession include recent clinics at OMEA Professional Conferences: "Professionalism 101" (2014 - for OCMEA members), "Beginning Band for Dummies" (2014 - for general music teachers who find themselves teaching band) and "10 Ways to Make Sixth Grade Beginning Band Successful" (2010 - as more and more districts begin cutting their elementary instrumental programs). Celeste served as the chairperson for the OMEA District 6 Junior High Honor Band for three years, and assisted with the District 6 Junior High Solo & Ensemble Festival for six years. Mrs. Wagner's students participate regularly in OMEA Adjudicated events.
